As a Mississippi-born artist who blends music, art, and emotion, “1986” came from a deep place. I wanted to capture the nostalgia of oldschool love, paired with my signature dreamy soundscape.
The name 1986 isn’t random — it’s symbolic of a time when love felt timeless, when music felt like a movie, and when Black creativity was breaking molds. I channeled that energy while putting this record together.
I recorded “1986” in my home studio, surrounded by candles, unfinished paintings, and chaos. That’s my process — free, choatic, a little messy, but always authentic.
